60 years of wildlife photography
Wildlife Photographer of the Year turns 60 in 2025. Staged by the Natural History Museum, this prestigious photography competition (and accompanying blockbuster exhibition) both celebrates the sheer majesty of nature, and sounds the alarm on a planet under extreme pressure. And there are tons of incredible images you can explore right now…
Candles, strings and show tunes
Musicals by Candlelight pays tribute to beloved composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz this week and next. Head to the atmospheric Actors’ Church in Covent Garden on 29 March or 4 April, where a string quartet will treat you to songs from the likes of Wicked, The Prince of Egypt, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Pocahontas.
Pint-fuelled promenades
Julian McDonnell (AKA Joolz Guides on Youtube) has a new book out, and it’s a must-buy for anyone who appreciates a leisurely stroll that ends (or indeed begins) with a cheeky pint. The dapper filmmaker presents Rather Splendid London Pub Walks — a collection of 18 scenic routes that take in various iconic watering holes.

London-inspired art
In her paintings, artist Michelle Heron immortalises London’s many threatened independent stores. She captures old school shopfronts, classic greasy spoons, and launderettes of bygone eras, taking viewers on a poignant nostalgia trip.
