Here’s an early Christmas present for you (or perhaps a last-minute gift for someone else)… From now until 3 January 2025, you can snap up an annual subscription to Londonist: Time Machine for 35% less.
That means you’ll be able to access all areas of our community for London history lovers for a whole year, for just £29.25 (which works out at less than £2.50 a month!) On top of our weekly free newsletter, you’ll receive regular content exclusively for paying subscribers, plus access to our full archive and in-person meetups and events.
So far this month, we’ve pootled around Putney, investigated oddball church names (St Andrew-by-the-Wardrobe, anyone?) delved into London’s festive traditions, and whizzed through the thousand-year history of Billingsgate — delivering our findings directly to paying subscribers’ inboxes. Become one of them for 35% less via the link below.
Festive family theatre
Follow a very special hero on an epic adventure involving Norse gods, invading Frost Giants, and a quest to save the world from eternal winter. Odd and the Frost Giants is Unicorn Theatre’s Christmas show. This festive tale of friendship and courage from the UK’s leading children’s theatre involves spectacular projections, creative captions, and lots of humour. Here till 31 December!
See Steve Coogan as Dr. Strangelove
Alan Partridge himself stars in the first ever stage adaptation of Stanley Kubrick’s political satire par excellence, Dr. Strangelove. Like Peter Sellers before him, Steve Coogan plays multiple roles, and the whole thing’s brought to life by a killer creative team: Armando Iannucci (The Thick of It) and Sean Foley. It’s at Noël Coward Theatre till 25 January.

A great gift for art aficionados
Still got some Christmas shopping to do? A subscription to Londonist: Urban Palette makes for a superb short-notice gift (if we do say so ourselves), and doesn’t involve braving Dante’s tenth circle of hell your local high street on Christmas Eve. With one of these, you’ll get full access to our community for London art lovers, including extra features, exclusive interviews and more.
We wish you a merry Twixtmas
As nice as spending the week between Christmas and New Year’s with your sofa and a selection box (or three) is, London gives us plenty of reasons to venture out into the crisp midwinter. Give yourself a break from the Monopoly (or cheese) board with the help of our Twixtmas events round-up.
